Well, I have been putting this off long enough. If I have a blog, I must write. I have been told for a long time that I should be writing. So, here goes.
I was married to my love for 44 years and I would not trade that for anything in the world. We, like all married folk, had our ups and downs. Some of ours were more down than up, but we used that as a learning curve and came to know God's plan and purpose for our lives. Some of us are just slow learners, if you know what I mean. We did the best we could with what we had and I am thankful for that man and the times we had together. He taught me the true meaning of unconditional love.
How is it that you can take for granted things that are so beautiful? Things like being treated like a queen and not even realizing it? Or, knowing he would do anything to help you understand who you are and what your dreams are? That he would set you up for success to wait and see you bloom and flourish, even if you didn't know exactly what your gifts are yourself. I am forever grateful to know such unconditional love.
In the process of receiving such unconditional love, I gradually learned to step out and love in return. I moved from a place of living like a mushroom to a more open and spacious, gracious habitat. Mushrooms flourish in dark, damp places. After all, they are a fungus. Yes, I was a fungus among us. Funny thing is, you don't even realize the state you are in when you are so entrenched there. It is only when you are introduced to grace that you are released from the fungus mentality. Grace opens the doors to dream. Grace opens the doors to become. Dare to dream.
